Phil's First Post

This is all about freezing people, brains, organs and tissues - don't be squeamish . .

It has taken a while to get around to this and maybe I am just posting in the dark while the MIFIMC destroys the planet - but what else can I do? - you have to be in it to have a chance . . and life is too bloody short . .

Over the last 60 years there have been some people who have thought that Cryonics could be successfully "marketed" - my understanding of "successful" would mean that there would now be millions of people signed up for Cryonics - instead of a few thousand . . so "success"? - I don't think so . .

My current view is that idea of Cryoncis is SO unusual that it just doesn't lend itself to conventional commercial marketing. So, should we say copy the very successful marketing of the Catholic Church eg? (thanks JNT!) - as another sort of very long-term project based on "The Meaning of Life"? - I think some version of that would be a hard sell for Cryonics as well.

Anyway, after a number of more recent discussions with an old friend, I think I might try and experiment with a new web site and try and do things a little differently and see what happens - somehow I will find the time over the next 12 months to put in the effort for this experiment and see if the approach has any legs - what could go wrong?

So, ATM the plan is to use my existing domain:

cryonics.com.au

that has been neglected for a long time and produce a mostly blog site that is a little more personal . . maybe that people can relate to more?

Then I will make a superhuman effort to produce at least one decent-sized blog post per month which is relevant specifically to Radical Life Extension - including but not restricted to:

  • Full body cryopreservations
  • "Neuro" or "Cephalic" cryopreservations
  • Neural Archives (brain-only) cryopreservation
  • Chemical + higher temp Cryo preservations
  • Chemical fixation (room temp preservations)
  • Genetic and other interventions to slow ageing
  • Avatar Phi Rho

Since one post per month won't be enough to attract an audience of millions, I am thinking that other people who know about interesting things relating to RLE could also submit irregular posts on the site - with sufficient people that could create quite a busy site.

I already have a Medium account but I am thinking that this new web site could also post links to lots of other interesting web pages - inc to the usual Social Media suspects etc.

If things did progress well, I might also set up a new Discourse Forum site separate from the existing CAA General Purpose mailing list which could be a place for more formal / longer form discussions for a larger audience.
